Squirtortle often has a hard time balancing itself while swimming due to the lack of ears and the big tail a normal Wartortle would have. As such, Trainers often avoid bringing this Pokémon to large bodies of water until it evolves again.

Originally thought to have been taller, more aggressive Squirtle, studies on the structure of the shell have determined that it actually has more in common with Wartortle. If it goes long enough without evolving, it may grow fur on its tail.

Its large tail is covered with rich, thick fur that deepens in color with age. Its shell is not just for protection.
