Sandymander need water to maintain their form but are viscerally scared of accidentally putting out the fire on their tail. This contradictory dilemma makes taking care of them difficult for most Trainers.
The flame that burns at the tip of its tail is an indication of its emotions. It likes the shovel on its head, so Sandymander will get serious and fight any children who come to take it back.
